Awards New Mexico IDEA Awards
The New Mexico IDEA Awards, for individuals or organizations, encourage, recognize and promote outstanding achievement in economic development in New Mexico. The 2009 Awards were presented on October 21, 2009. The Dallan Sanders Award recipient was Robert Donnell of Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development, Developer of the Year for 2009 was Angela Talbot, of the New Mexico Partnership, New Mexico First went to Dierdre Firth of Albuquerque Economic Development, and Public Servant of the Year for 2009 was Beth Davis of the New Mexico Economic Development Department. Congratulations to all of our winners!
The Awards
1. Dallan Sanders Award: The Dallan Sanders award is given in honor of Dallan Sanders of Portales. Dallan was a significant positive influence on all who knew him. This yearly award is in recognition of a person with a direct connection to rural economic development in New Mexico, someone whose position and activity is to a large degree focused on economic development in rural communities. This individual will have shown years of dedication to the economic vitality of rural areas, usually on a regional or state level rather than in one community.
2. Developer of the Year Award: Recognizes the efforts of a person who spearheaded a quality project that located in the current year, or a person who has prepared a community for economic growth in a unique way.
3. NM First Award: Recognition of a person whose career has exemplified a statewide impact on economic development in legislation, community assistance or job creation.
4. Volunteer of the Year Award: This award is given to a person who has contributed to the success of a significant project that created or enhanced jobs in their community.
5. Public Servant of the Year Award: This award recognizes an individual that has had played in a public role in economic development in the community or state and has made a considerable contribution.
Nomination Process
All nominations for the above referenced awards shall be on a Nomination Form determined by NMIDEA with all applicable supporting documentation. Neither the Nomination Form nor the supporting documentation shall be returned to the nominee or his/her nominator.
Selection Committee
The Awards Committee of NMIDEA shall be comprised of a chairperson appointed by the NMIDEA President and the immediate past five Presidents of NMIDEA. The Committee shall review nominations submitted on NMIDEA's Award Nomination Form and received by the applicable deadlines. NMIDEA will present any or all awards when deemed appropriate by the Committee.
